A personal stylist's top 5 favorite trends for fall 2024

Fall is easily my favorite time of year for fashion. I love layering, the richness of the fabrics and colors in fall, and how tailoring starts to replace the airy silhouettes of summer. It's truly a special time of year.

There are an amazing group of new trends this fall, some of which might work for you and your personal style. Here are some that I'm recommending to some of my clients this year.

1. Leopard - this is my new current obsession. I literally can't get enough of it, and I'm seeing all over the new fall collections. You can go as crazy as you want with this and what makes the most sense for you. For me, I can wear a full dress in leopard and rock it, but if you're feeling a little more tame, why not try it in an accessory like a shoe or bag. They say that leopard is a neutral (and I would tend to agree), so feel free to mix this with neutrals like black or ivory or with a bright, bold color like pink or orange.

2. Faux fur - the debate around fur is contentious, and while I would never recommend anyone buy real fur unless it's vintage, I think it does have a place in some people's personal style. Now, this isn't just the fleeting mob wife aesthetic that so many wore last year. Faux fur can be placed in a wardrobe in small doses, for example, as a trim or as sheerling if your style is a little more natural and laid back.

3. Green - For spring, red was all the rage, and for fall, designers have moved towards the colors green as the "it" color. What I love so much about this isn't just that green is a color that feels fresh, but that every color of green fits into this trend, so you can find the one that fits best into your seasonal palette. From apple green for springs, to jade green for summers, to pine green for winters, and loden green for autumns, there are so many great options

4. Sheer - from lace to tissue thin chiffons, skin is in this fall. we saw a lot of unlined skirts on the runway, but there is a way to take advantage of this trend without baring it all. Try sheer sleeves or a lace top layered over a cami or even a midi skirt that's only lined to mid-thigh. This trend is very alluring and yet can be appropriate in small doses for work or the weekend.

5. Turtlenecks - specifically the tissue thin variety that look amazing layered under collared shirts and blazers. This is a very accessible trend, as you can find a tissue thin turtleneck at nearly every price point. I love the idea of a neutral one of these tucked into a pair of trousers layered with a tweed blazer or a brightly colored or black one under a classic white shirt.

Which of these trends are you excited to try this fall?? Let me know in the comments and be sure to share this blog post on social media.
